Certified Reference Materials (CRM)

These reference materials contain an authorized certificate. They also contain certification value, the measurement uncertainty, and the clearly defined metrological traceable link.

Primary Reference Materials (PRM)

This certified reference material is made by primary measurement method and secures international equivalence through international key comparisons. This material is also made and used for specific purposes, such as building traceability with national measurement standards.

Secondary reference materials

The national measurement standards and traceability of there reference materials have been established by the primary measurement method or primary reference materials. They are certified reference materials that are produced and sold for use in measurement and analysis sites.

Necessity of the accreditation system for reference materials manufacturing agency

  • - Ensuring the quality of reference materials: Suitability assessment for international standards
  • - Smooth supply of reference materials: Promotes a production of commercial reference materials
  • - Technology change and satisfying various requirements for reference materials : Development of various reference materials
  • - Fostering of institutes manufacturing reference materials : Supports the development of reference materials and promotes reference materials that have been developed

Characteristics of the accreditation system for reference materials manufacturing agency

Reference material manufacturing institute can perform the tasks of manufacturing, certifying and supplying the reference materials. That institute uses the accreditation mark of reference material manufacturing in accordance with the "Guidelines for the Use of Accreditation Marks and International Accredited Agency Labeling".
